Hint, Use a copper or aluminum container and push the air out of it using argon gas. Silica gel is good to soak up any moisture, but it only lasts for 6 months so your 50 year old Time capsule will not last the test of time if mosture seaps in to your container... How to find somehere in Petersham (or anywhere in the inner west) that you know won't be concreted over, or have a house on it, in 20 yrs time? A park or a school oval would be obvious choices. Other than that the only uncovered spaces I can think of are backyards, nature strips and the gullies beside the railways tracks. I think 30 years would be a good stretch of time to leave it buried. 1987 doesn't seem like long enough ago to me..
