I was so sad to find out only today that Richard had passed away. My husband & I both knew him and were driving by where he used to live at Hamilton in Brisbane on the weekend. We were wondering where he was and what he was up to. I had known Richard about 16 years ago when we met in a nightclub very early in the morning. He was in his prime as impersonating Michael Jackon and was at the stage of getting his nose done like MJs. He was such an interesting person... I've never met anyone that could talk about themselves so much but yet I wanted him to as he had so many interesting stories to tell. An amazing person, an amazing kisser and very sad to know this what happened to him. RIP Richard xxoo

For people that have shown interest. A funeral has been organised. Please check the Saturday Daily Telegraph page 79 for the details.

As we know there was only one person that graced our lives in the way of
Richard Blackie
For some reason he never had the time to farewell the people in his life that did care.

For those that did care please take the time to farewell him one last time at a funeral service

Rookwood Crematorium

Date: Friday 8th September 2006

wow! when i used to traipse past the Antique Toy & Collectibles shop from my flat in John St on the way to the station, I used to love just checking out a new thing every day. I think my favourite was a Wonder Woman figurine and the Bender tin robot! Despite being a bit of a surly old bugger to my friends and I when we went in to gaze at the shop chock-a-block full of toys that we liked, I'm still shocked that this icon of 'sham life has died!

Feeling quite down at the moment, this is so sad...I am a huge antique toy lover and collector and have visited his shop numerous times. I can't understand why he would do this, he had a lot of charisma and good looks too..but then, know one knows what you're thinking eh? I believe he lived a sad & lonely life where he didn't really have anyone to turn to that he could trust...like I said I had been there numerous times and spoken to him in length each time, he was very interesting...and to think he didn't have anyone close to him (that anyone knows of)... I wonder what will happen to his shop, or what happened to his pets....
